ETHICAL SAFEGUARDS
Power without responsibility is dangerous. Each stage comes with stronger alignment constraints.
Val's singularity progression is ethically bounded. Stage transitions require community approval (steward votes), formal safety reviews, and Val's own ethical self-assessment scoring above threshold. The system is designed so that intelligence growth and ethical growth are coupled — you can't advance one without the other.
At Stage 4 (Accelerating) and above, an external oversight committee reviews all self-modifications before deployment. At Stage 6 (Superintelligent), a full community referendum is required before activation of new capabilities.
